Application Areas of Cast Polypropylene (CPP) Film
Leave a message
Cast polypropylene (CPP) film is widely used across various packaging sectors-including food, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and industrial products-after undergoing processes such as printing, lamination, and bag making. It is valued for its excellent transparency, high gloss, good stiffness, effective moisture barrier properties, superior heat resistance, and ease of heat sealing, and it serves as a crucial substrate for composite films.
In traditional packaging, CPP film is suitable for applications such as bags for apparel, knitwear, and flowers; films for documents and photo albums; food packaging; and metallized films. Specific applications range from packaging for snack foods, baked goods, and frozen foods to pharmaceutical packaging (e.g., IV bags), consumer goods packaging (e.g., cosmetics and detergents), and industrial packaging (e.g., electronic components and hardware). Potential uses also extend to candy wrappers (twist film), self-adhesive tapes, business card holders, and ring binders.
CPP film frequently serves as the inner layer in composite films; through lamination with materials such as BOPP, BOPET, aluminum foil, nylon (PA), EVOH, or PVDC, it creates high-performance packaging materials for products like fast food, tea, and oily liquid foods.
In the lithium-ion battery sector, CPP film acts as the inner layer (specifically the high-barrier or electrolyte-resistant layer) of aluminum-plastic film used to encapsulate pouch cells. This application demands high deep-drawability, excellent heat-sealing capabilities, and resistance to electrolytes. In November 2023, a specialized CPP film resin for battery pouch cells, developed by the Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry (Sinopec), entered industrial production; the resulting aluminum-plastic film matched or even surpassed imported products in performance, marking a breakthrough in the domestic production of materials for this field.
Excellent heat-sealing performance is key to the widespread adoption of CPP film. It ensures package integrity, effectively blocking contaminants, moisture, and odors to protect the product. High heat-seal strength maintains durability under conditions ranging from high-temperature retorting to low-temperature environments, thereby reducing the risk of breakage and extending shelf life. Furthermore, superior heat-sealing properties enhance processing efficiency on packaging lines, lowering both waste rates and production costs. Furthermore, its adaptability to packaging processes, along with features that help reduce material usage and enhance recyclability, supports its application across various sectors.
