Application Areas Of Biaxially Oriented Polyester Film
Leave a message
Biaxially oriented polyester film (BOPET) is widely used across various sectors due to its excellent comprehensive properties. Its primary application areas include packaging, electronics and electrical appliances, printing and lamination, new energy and optics, and other industrial fields.
Packaging is the largest application sector for BOPET, accounting for approximately 61% of its usage. Often serving as a printing or outer layer to provide structural rigidity, BOPET film is frequently laminated with films such as CPP or PE; it is suitable for packaging food (e.g., retort pouches), pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. In high-temperature retort pouches, BOPET film withstands temperatures ranging from 120–135°C up to 150°C, while offering excellent resistance to moisture, gas permeation, and chemical corrosion, as well as superior aroma retention.
In the electronics and electrical sector, BOPET film leverages its excellent electrical insulation, mechanical strength, and dimensional stability for applications such as motor insulation, capacitor dielectrics, floppy disks, magnetic tape bases, and photographic materials (e.g., motion picture film bases).
In the printing and lamination sector, BOPET film serves as a high-quality printing layer or substrate for metallization, finding wide application in hot stamping foils, metallized films, laser anti-counterfeiting composite films, and labels.
In the new energy and optics sectors, BOPET film is used for solar backsheets, optical films, LCD components, and screen protectors; optical-grade BOPET film, in particular, offers superior performance characteristics.
Other applications for BOPET film include construction materials, heat-shrinkable materials, variable information materials, automotive components, agricultural films, and various industrial uses (such as electrical insulation, magnetic containers, and drafting film).
