Physicochemical Properties Of BOPP Film
Leave a message
BOPP film is a key flexible packaging material. It is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic, while offering high tensile strength, impact strength, rigidity, and toughness, as well as excellent transparency.
Physical and Chemical Properties
BOPP film is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. Typical technical specifications include a density of approximately 0.9 g/cm³, a melt flow index of about 3 g/10 min, a heat deflection temperature of around 85°C, a Vicat softening temperature of approximately 156°C, and low haze.
Mechanical Properties
BOPP film exhibits high tensile strength, impact strength, rigidity, and toughness. It demonstrates excellent performance in terms of tensile modulus and tensile strength. Biaxial stretching causes the molecular chains to align in the direction of the stretch, increasing the material's crystallinity and thereby enhancing mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elastic modulus, and impact strength. While the film's initial tear strength improves after stretching, its propagation tear strength remains low; consequently, the edges must be free of any nicks or cuts to prevent tearing during printing or lamination processes.
Surface and Processing Characteristics
BOPP film has low surface energy, requiring corona treatment to improve adhesion before coating or printing. The film is prone to static electricity generation on high-speed production lines, necessitating the installation of static eliminators. BOPP film also offers excellent moisture resistance.
Special Properties of Functional BOPP Films
BOPP film for electrical applications is characterized by high isotacticity, high purity, and ultra-thin gauge. It offers superior electrical properties, including self-healing capabilities, high insulation resistance, low dielectric loss, high dielectric strength, and excellent frequency characteristics.
